SURGERY
Dr. Smith has extensive experience over a broad spectrum of routine as well as emergency surgeries. Spay, neuter, and declaws are just a few of the many surgical procedures that are available at our hospital. We use only the safest anesthesia available and an assistant monitors your pet's breathing and heart rate throughout the surgery. Also, a high quality suture material is used to prevent irritation or reactions at the surgical site. All surgical patients are kept warm and are monitored by our staff after surgery. |

CHECK-UP
Bringing your pet in for a thorough physical examination atleast once a year(senior pet's twice a year) is the best way to keep your pet healthy and to avoid life threatening problems later. We at Sunshine Animal Hospital believe in proactive medicine- it is best to prevent an illness/disease than waiting for one to occur and then treat it. Along with checking your pet's temperature and heart rate, Dr. Smith is also looking for ear infections, skin conditions, gingivitis, lumps, and other physical abnormalities that may have gone unnoticed to the untrained eye. |

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
Vaccinations play an important role in keeping your pet healthy. Puppy's and kitten's immune systems are not fully developed until they are four months old. That is why it is vital to get them vaccinated approximately every three weeks once they are taken away from their mother's milk. After they are 4 months old, vaccinations are given routinely on a yearly basis. This helps keep your pet healthy! |

LABORATORY
The results from performing labwork is many times the only way to diagnose a problem. We feel it is vital to have an in house laboratory in order to maintain the highest level of care possible, especially when time is a critical factor. Fecal floats, Canine Heartworm tests, Feline Leukemia/FIV tests, and urine analysis are a just a few of the many tests performed. Our lab is also equipped with Iddex Vet Lab Analyzers for more extensive labwork results. |

DENTISTRY
Keeping teeth healthy is just as important for your pet as it is for people. Teeth cleaning involves scraping tartar off each tooth and under the gum lines with an ultrasonic scaler. Teeth are then polished to smooth the surface so that calculus build-up will be slowed. For a routine cleaning, anesthesia is used to keep your pet immobilized so we are able to thoroughly clean the teeth and under the gums in the pockets where the problem is starting. An antibiotic injection is administered during the dental cleaning so that bacteria loosened during the process does not create a problem in the bloodstream. Dentistry is a good way to increase the quality of your pet's life. |
